Semarang, September 10, 2025 – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University (FEB Undip), welcomed a visit from the Secretariat General of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for a discussion forum focusing on the implementation and monitoring of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Law. The event, held at the Senate Meeting Room of FEB Undip, was attended by representatives from the Center for Monitoring the Implementation of Laws at DPR RI as well as members of the FEB Undip academic community.
The discussion served as an important platform for academia and the legislative body to exchange perspectives. The FEB Undip academic community had the opportunity to provide input on various aspects, ranging from technical issues and academic perspectives to principles of justice in Indonesia’s regulatory framework. The Secretariat General of DPR RI also elaborated on real challenges encountered in practice, including bureaucratic obstacles, regulatory alignment, and policy support for MSMEs in the era of globalization.
The involvement of universities is highly essential in both drafting and evaluating regulations. With academic expertise and research, universities can provide a solid foundation to ensure that policies are more accurate and effective. FEB Undip also emphasized the importance of this synergy as part of efforts to empower MSMEs, which serve as the backbone of the national economy.
The forum further highlighted the importance of monitoring and evaluation in the implementation of the MSME Law. With an effective monitoring mechanism, it is expected that various challenges faced by MSMEs—such as access to financing, licensing, and business assistance—can be addressed more effectively. The discussion also marked a momentum for Undip, particularly FEB, to actively contribute academic-based solutions that can be used as references for policymakers.
Through this collaboration, FEB Undip reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national economic development by strengthening MSMEs. With the communication bridge built between DPR RI and the academic community, it is expected that regulations will better serve the interests of the wider society while fostering a business climate that is healthy, inclusive, and sustainable.
